Weekly Update

It's homecoming week here at Whiting High School and the booster club has planned a lot of fun activities for our students. There will be spirit themes each day this week. Today is Monochrome Monday and students can wear all the same color. Tuesday's theme is Soccer Moms vs BBQ Dads. Wednesday's theme is Disney. Thursday's theme is the seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). Friday's theme is Extreme Green and White. During homeroom this week, students will be going over Homecoming activities, working on their SAT Individual Growth Plans, as well as updating their College Board passwords. The Homecoming Parade will start at the City Barn at 6 PM and the Bonfire will be at 7pm on Thursday. The student kickball game will be after the bonfire at the softball field. Our Pep Rally will be during 6th and 7th periods and the game against Boone Grove will be at 7 PM on Friday. Be sure to come to Ray P. Gallivan Field to show your support! The Homecoming Dance is this Saturday at 7 PM. Students can pick up tickets in the main office for 10 dollars. Tickets will need to be purchased by the end of the day on Wednesday. In addition to Homecoming week, it is also Hispanic Heritage month. Our Spanish Club has been leading a daily trivia for our homerooms to compete with one another. This trivia is based on Hispanic history. Julieana Collazo was our Oiler of the Week for last week. Julieana received the most votes from the teachers for exhibiting our 5 core values (self-advocacy, responsibility, self-discipline, grit, and growth mindset). Assignment recovery will continue this week for students who are failing and receive a 0 on an assignment. The following is a list of the teachers who will be supervising Assignment Recovery this week.
