Weekly Update

Assignment Recovery will be every day but Wednesday this week. Social studies is Monday, elective courses are Tuesday, English is Thursday, and Math is Friday. Students are welcome to join the Assignment Recovery classroom even if their teacher did not assign them a day. However, attendance is mandatory if a teacher assigned your child Assignment Recovery. October is National Bullying Prevention Month and students will be participating in the bullying prevention month pledge during homeroom on Monday. Other activities in homeroom this week include PSAT preparation and creating College Board accounts. Tomorrow, 10/3/2023, students will be attending in a school-wide presentation by the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute during 6th period. After the presentation, seniors will have a financial aid workshop and juniors/seniors will participate in a college and career fair. Wednesday is our district-wide Walk-to-School Day. Students who normally get dropped off at the high school will be dropped off by the little league field. They will then walk to door 23 of the high school where they will receive a water bottle for their participation. PSAT day is on October 11th this year. All students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will be taking the PSAT on that day. Seniors will not be in the building as they will be participating in a college or career activity outside of school. ACC seniors will still need to attend their ACC classes on that day. Junior ACC students will not be attending the ACC on that day. Congratulations to Diego DelReal, Luis Agront, and Olivia Ringer for being our Oilers of the Week last week. Teachers nominate students to be the Oilers of the Week if they exemplify our five core values (self-discipline, responsibility, self-advocacy, GRIT, and growth mindset). Last but not least, today is National Custodial Appreciation Day. Please encourage your child to recognize our amazing custodial staff here at Whiting High School. We wish you and your family a safe and productive week.
