Weekly Update

Our first quarter came to an end last Friday.  Teachers will be inputting grades tomorrow and we will have report cards finalized on Wednesday. Parents will be able to pick up a hard copy of their child's report card during parent teacher conferences this Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. We hope to see you all there. Additionally, there will be parent teacher conferences from 12 to 3 PM this Friday. Your child's teachers should have sent you a link in your email to sign up for a virtual session.  There will be a synchronous eLearning day on Friday from 8 to 11 AM. For parents who are unable to attend conferences, report cards can be viewed online in RDS and will be sent home with your child on November 1st.

Tomorrow at 5:30 is the Hidden in Plain Sight presentation, which will take place in the school's cafeteria. This presentation is for adults only and will cover common drug trends and what to look for as a parent or school staff member.

Congratulations to Ben Player, Camila Ortiz Torres, and Diego DelReal for being our Oilers of the Week. Oilers of the Week are selected by staff members for students who exemplify our 5 core values (self-advocacy, responsibility, self-discipline, grit, and growth mindset.

Whiting High School is currently going through the process for reaccreditation through Cognia. Being accredited allows our school to assign credits and issue diplomas for our students. As part of this process, we will be sending out surveys for parents to complete. There was a survey sent to parents last week and there will be another survey sent this week. Please be open and honest in these surveys as we are always looking for ways to improve for our students.

Lastly, fall break is Monday and Tuesday of next week. There will be no school on those days. Thank you for your continued support of our school and community.

Have a great Oiler week!
