During Homeroom this week, students will be working on missing assignments, getting the final exam schedule, working on Khan Academy, and discussing next year's phone policy. Next year, Indiana law will require that students not have their phones during instructional time. Luckily, our district policy already follows this law. However, we are asking students for their input on the current phone policy and consequences that go with it. Please see finals schedules attached to the email sent today for students. The ACC schedule will explain what ACC students should do during these final 3 days of the school year.
There is a band concert tonight in the Memorial Gym. Nathan Hale will start at 6, followed by the middle school and high school. Our last AP exam will be given this Wednesday. I would like to commend all of our AP students and teachers for their hard work and dedication to AP's rigorous curriculum and exam process. Whiting High School is also hosting a Physical Day on May 22nd in Memorial Gym from 3 to 5 PM. This is a cheap and easy way for students to take care of their physical for next year's sports.
Tomorrow 5/20 is the ACC Orientation from 5 to 6 PM in the high school cafeteria. This is for any student who will be attending the ACC next year. At least one guardian is required to be at the meeting with their child.
Assignment Recovery continues this week for students who are failing a course and miss an assignment in that course. Monday is for Social Studies with Mr. Belyayev. Tuesday is for English with Mr. Popiela. Thursday is for Electives with Ms. DeWald. Friday is for Math with Mrs. Reese.
Congratulations to Gianna Smith for winning Oiler of the Week last week. Teachers vote on Oiler of the Week by choosing students who exemplify our 5 core values (self-advocacy, responsibility, self-discipline, grit, and growth mindset).
Thank you for your continued support of our school and community.
Have a great Oiler day!
