It is College GO Week at Whiting High School this week. Students are allowed to dress down according to the themes each day. Students can wear camouflage or red, white, and blue on Monday, a college shirt on Tuesday, our school colors on Wednesday, and neon colors on Thursday. Throughout the week, we will be providing students with information about colleges during Homeroom and daily announcements.
Make up picture day is this Thursday 10/3. For senior casuals, Memory Makers will have two of the most popular backgrounds set up in person (not a green screen). There is no cost for retakes. Please send your order with your students on retake day.
This Friday 10/4 is an eLearning day. Students will be expected to log into their google classrooms and answer an attendance question for each of their classes. Teachers will be available via Google Meet from 8 to 11 am.
Assignment Recovery continues this week for any student who is failing a class and misses an assignment in that class. Monday is for social studies with Mr. Belyayev. Tuesday is for English with Mr. Popiela. Thursday is for electives with Ms. DeWald. Failure to attend Assignment Recovery will result in the progressive discipline steps outlined in the student handbook.
Congratulations to Gabe Gallegos and Angel Pichardo who were our Oilers of the week last week. Teachers nominate oilers of the week by choosing students who exemplify our 5 core values (self-discipline, responsibility, self-advocacy, grit, and growth mindset).
Science Olympiad is sponsoring a Double Good fundraiser this week. Please reach out to Mr. Long or a member of the Science Olympiad team if you are interested in purchasing some.
Volleyball has a game against Merrillville today in Memorial Gym. JV starts at 5 and Varsity starts at 6:30. JV Football has a home game against Boone Grove on Saturday.
