Weekly Update

This week during Homeroom, students will be having grade checks and working on their individual growth plans in Khan Academy or Edmentum. These plans will help them improve their scores on the PSAT and eventually the SAT.

Wednesday 10/16 is Walk to School Day. Students who normally get dropped off can be dropped off at the corner of Oliver and 117th street by the Little League fields. Bus riders will also be dropped off at the football parking lot.

The PSAT is coming up on October 23rd for all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. This exam is to help students prepare for the SAT in their junior year. Their individual growth plans in Khan Academy will be adjusted based on how they do on the PSAT. The SAT is an important exam that helps colleges decide who they are going to accept into their school. Additionally, reaching the benchmark in the exam will allow students to fulfill the post-secondary readiness competency part of their graduation requirements.

Parent Teacher Conferences are also on October 23rd in Memorial Gym. We hope to see parents and guardians sometime between 4 and 7 PM on that day. All teachers will have a table and chairs set up for you to meet with them at that time.

There are multiple fundraisers this week. The Class of 2027 is selling Holiday Greenery and the basketball teams are selling Krispy Kreme donuts. Please reach out if you would like to donate and purchase some items.

Congratulations to Leilani Muniz and Finn Monroe, who were the Oilers of the Week last week. Teachers nominate Oilers of the Week by choosing students who exemplify our five core values (self-discipline, responsibility, self-advocacy, grit, and growth mindset).

The end of the quarter is on October 18th. It is important that any student who is failing a course to take advantage of the extra assistance that we offer.
