SCW schools will be on a two hour delay today due to a district wide power outage. All schools will start at 10am. NH morning Pre-K class is canceled. HACC morning center students will remain on normal time and we will provide our normal transportation to the career center. Our Financial Aid Presentation & FSA ID Workshop will be held in the High School Library on Tuesday, October 8th at 5pm. (Enter at Door 23) All seniors and their families are encouraged to attend. Experts from INvestEd will discuss key steps in the financial aid process and then help create FSA IDs too. With the continuation of severe cold weather conditions and dangerous wind chills of -20 to -30 predicted for tomorrow, the SCW will be on synchronous e-learning for Tuesday 1/16/24. Teachers will have their schedules and assignments posted to their google classroom sites by 8am tomorrow. Students should complete all work and follow their class schedules as posted. Teachers will be available from 8am-3pm to assist students., Pre-k classes are cancelled for the day. All extracurricular events and practices are cancelled. In Person Registration for the 23/24 School Year will take place on Monday August 7th and Wednesday August 9th from 1-3:45 pm and 5-6:45 pm. All current and new students must participate in this registration event unless you have completed online registration. Parents must provide proof of residency with mortgage paperwork and/or lease agreement, and current utility bill. Students will have their ID pictures taken at registration and receive their schedules. Lunch assistance applications, update of medical forms, and other school forms will take place at this time. Online registration for the 2023/2024 school year opens Monday July 24th and will remain open until Wednesday August 2nd. The online registration process is only available to current returning students . You will need your assigned parent access code in order to complete the process. To register online, please go to our website: www.whiting.k12.in.us and look for RDS Parent Access under the Parent links in the pull down menu. You will have to bring your valid proof of residency to your child's school office anytime from 8am-2pm on Tuesday August 8th or Thursday August 10th to obtain your child's schedule. Any parent completing online registration does not need to attend our in-person registration event on Monday August 7th or Wednesday August 8th. The 23-24 WHS bell schedule will include a daily homeroom period. This period will be important for all students, as it will help increase test scores, allow for remediation, and enhance opportunities for student pathways. It will be treated as a regular class where attendance is mandatory and the curriculum is necessary to complete. Students will receive a pass/fail grade for the course.
Sasha Adams continues her quest for an individual state title tomorrow as she travels to Indianapolis to play in the state tournament. Sasha is 26-0 on the season including 7-0 in post season play. She outscored her opponents 312 to 5 during the season. Good luck Sasha! #oilers

The deadline to return summer school paperwork is tomorrow, Friday, May 5th. Students requiring summer school were given a copy of the paperwork in Homeroom on April 19th and a letter was also mailed home to parents that week. Please be sure return the completed form to the Counseling Office indicating your student's participation. The previously scheduled e-learning day for May 2nd is being changed to a regular in-person instructional day for all students and staff due to the cancellation of the May 2nd Municipal Primary Election in Whiting. Please note this on your school calendar at home. If you have any questions, please call your child's school office.
On Saturday, May 13th, 2023 the senior class will be attending Six Flag’s Grad Nite. The event is from 10 PM to 3 AM at Six Flags. Busses will leave WHS at 8 PM and return approximately at 5 AM on May 14th. Seniors that would like to attend will need to have a signed permission slip and purchase a ticket in the main office. Tickets will be $50 per person. Tickets will be sold from March 6th to March 24th. All fees must be paid in full before purchasing a ticket. Due to the predicted winter storm and possible hazardous driving conditions at dismissal, Friday March 3rd is an Asynchronous E-learning day for all students grades K-12. Teachers will have their assignments and office hours posted by 8am. All students are expected to log in and complete their attendance questions and assignments. Teachers will be available to help students during posted office hours and via email. Pre-K classes and all extracurricular activities are canceled for the day.
All juniors will be taking the SAT tomorrow morning 3/2/2023. Each junior should have received a ticket with their testing location. Upon arriving tomorrow morning, juniors should put all materials in their locker, get their Chromebook, and report to their testing location. The test will take approximately 4 hours. Freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will complete their classes in-person as usual.
Students at WHS and WMS participated in a toy drive the past few weeks. This event was planned by the WHS Student Council, who were able to collect a total of 208 toys. #oilers #whitingoilers #oilernation
